Description

What it is

Proline EZ-Accent is a water based acrylic stain built for coloring and accenting concrete. It comes in 20 colors, all in 1 gallon containers, all $54.29.

Contractors reach for it when a stamped pour needs its pattern pulled out, when gray flatwork needs warming up, or when a new slab has to match hardscape that’s been in the ground for 10 years.

How it gets used

Most crews apply it as a secondary color over a base. You spray or brush it into the low spots of a stamp, then wipe or broom the high spots back so the texture reads. Some people use it straight as a solid color coat on plain concrete.

It’s water based, so cleanup is soap and water and the fumes won’t run your crew off the job or upset the neighbors. Thin it with water for a lighter wash, or lay it on full strength when you want the color to carry.

Plan on sealing over it once it’s dry. The stain gives you color, the sealer gives you protection.

Picking a color

The warm end of the line runs Buckskin, Sandalwood, Spanish Buff, Sedona, and Colorado. Grays and darks are Slate, Stone Gray, Charcoal, and Black. Rust, Mission Brown, Cimarron, and Pinto sit in the earth tone middle. Fairway, Juniper, and Turquoise are the greens and blues.

Color on a screen is a guess. Concrete is porous and no two slabs drink stain the same way, so buy a gallon and do a test patch in a corner before you commit to the whole driveway. Our counter staff can tell you what’s moving in your area if you’re stuck between two.

1. Can Proline EZ-Accent CHARCOAL be applied to a previously sealed surface?

No, the surface should be free of sealers to allow proper adhesion of the stain. It is recommended to strip existing sealers before applying the stain.

2. What is the best way to prepare the concrete before staining?

The concrete should be thoroughly cleaned and free of debris. Using a power washer or a concrete cleaner can help achieve the best surface preparation.

3. Is Proline EZ-Accent CHARCOAL safe for indoor use?

Yes, the water-based formula makes it suitable for indoor applications. Proper ventilation is recommended during application.

4. Can this stain be layered to achieve a deeper color?

Yes, applying multiple coats can intensify the color and create additional depth. Always allow each coat to dry before applying the next.

5. How long does it take for the stain to dry?

The stain typically dries within 1-2 hours, but it is best to wait at least 24 hours before applying a sealer or exposing the surface to heavy traffic.
