Description

What it’s for

Acrathane Colorseal is a water-based, solid color sealer for both vertical and horizontal surfaces. It’s built to take pool chemicals and heavy commercial foot traffic without breaking down, and it holds color longer than most sealers in high-UV areas. It also disperses heat rather than trapping it, which matters on pool decks in direct sun.

Where it goes

Wood, concrete, foam, and metal. Metal must be primed first.

Coverage and sizes

200 to 300 square feet per gallon. Sold in 1-gallon pails and 5-gallon buckets.

Colors

Natural White, Biscotti, Bone White, Oyster White, Sunrise Grey, Limestone, Dove Grey, Lite Grey, Tudor Grey, Concrete Grey, California Smoke, Smoke, Pewter Grey, Tweed Grey, Fort Worth Grey, Dark Grey, Ivory, Tea + Cream, Buff, Clay, Kahlua, Fran Tan, Putty, Almond, Sandstone, Sun Buff, Wheat, Indian Wheat, Sahara Sand, Houston Tan, Desert Wind, Dallas Rock, Colonial Tan, Mission Tan, Rocky Road, Desert Clay, Nevada Sand, Brick Red, Terra Cotta, Cocoa, and more. Physical color may vary from the digital swatch, so pull a sample before ordering a full job’s worth.

Surface prep

Substrate has to be sound, dry, and free of grease, oil, dirt, sealers, and water repellents before Colorseal goes on. If you’re coating over Multicoat Krete Kote, Top Coat, or another overlay, let it cure 24 to 48 hours first. New concrete needs 20 days minimum, or 7 days if you’ve used Vapor Shield as a curing accelerator. Don’t use on treated lumber.

Mixing

First coat: mix to uniformity, then thin at 1 part water to 3 parts Colorseal while mixing continuously. This gets a stronger bond into the substrate and stretches your material further. Second coat goes on straight, mixed to uniformity, no water added.

If a job needs more than one bucket, box them together in a larger container before applying. Colorseal is tinted from a base to the ordered color, accurate to 1/48 oz, so bucket-to-bucket shade can drift slightly. Boxing evens that out across the job.

Application

Brush, 1/2″ nap roller for smooth surfaces, 3/4″ nap roller for rough surfaces, or airless sprayer. Apply the diluted first coat with firm pressure and let it dry at least 1 hour. Apply the final coat with firm pressure too, don’t lay it on thicker than recommended. Airless sprayers work for the final coat. Give it 24 hours minimum before foot traffic, and treat it carefully for the full 14-day cure.

Storage

Store between 40°F and 90°F. Unopened containers hold for about 18 months.
